Privacy policy
Effective October 5, 2026. This policy explains what Stack Bazaar (operated by Stack Bazaar LLC, "we") collects when you visit stackbazaar.com, why, and the choices you have. We collect as little as a working website allows.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
If you email us or subscribe to a newsletter, we receive what you send: your email address, your name if you include it, and the content of your message. We use it only to reply or to send the newsletter you asked for.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records the IP address, browser type, requested page, referring page and time of each request for security and capacity purposes. Logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) with IP anonymisation and no advertising features enabled. Analytics tells us which pages are read and from which country or referrer; it does not tell us who you are.
- Affiliate click tracking. When you click an affiliate link (see our disclosure), the vendor or its network records that the click came from this site so that a commission can be attributed. That record is held by the network under its own privacy policy; we receive aggregate click and conversion counts, not your identity.
2. Cookies and similar technologies
We set a cookie to remember your light/dark theme preference. Our analytics provider may set first-party cookies to distinguish sessions. Affiliate networks may set cookies on their own domains when you click an affiliate link, typically lasting 30 to 90 days, to attribute a later purchase. We do not run advertising networks or retargeting pixels. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; the site will keep working.
3. Why we process data (legal bases)
- Legitimate interest in running a secure, functioning website and understanding readership in aggregate.
- Consent for newsletters and, where your jurisdiction requires it, for analytics cookies.
- Contract when you ask us to do something, such as reply to a request.
4. Who we share data with
Service providers that host the site, deliver email and provide analytics, each bound to use data only to provide the service. Affiliate networks receive click events as described above. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We will disclose information if the law requires it.
5. International transfers
Stack Bazaar LLC is based in the United States and our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
6. Retention
Emails are kept as long as needed to handle the matter and for a reasonable period afterwards. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is kept in aggregate form for up to 26 months. Server logs are rotated within weeks.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a supervisory authority.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
EEA and UK residents (GDPR): the rights above apply, and you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any right, email hello@stackbazaar.com with the subject "Privacy request". We will verify the request and respond within the time the law allows, usually 30 days.
8. Children
This site is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us data, email us and we will delete it.
9. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. We limit access to personal data to the people who need it and use reputable providers. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; if a breach affecting your data occurs we will notify you as the law requires.
10. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We honour the Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out of sale or sharing where applicable. We do not currently respond to legacy Do Not Track headers, because there is no accepted standard, but we do not track you across other sites in any case.
11. Changes
We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date. Material changes will be flagged on the home page for at least 30 days.
